Planning the article (double page spread)
Article Idea Development: My idea for the double page spread article is the 3 best hiking trails in the Smoky Mountains. My approach for this is to list the 3 trails I have chosen to talk about and describe their steepness, views, and difficulty levels. I also plan to provide multiple pictures for each of the trails. This way, my article will match the photos I provide with it.
Preparation for the article: In late December to early January, I visited the Smoky Mountains and hiked these trails. I have experienced the aspects like steepness and views that I will be talking about in the article, and I have taken and edited many photos of the trails. I have also done more research on the trails to gain knowledge on specific data such as grades (steepness percentage) of the trails and distances.
Paragraph plan: I plan to use half of the left page for a picture taken on one of the trails I will be talking about. With the bottom half of that page on the left portion, I plan to Write the title - "Hiking in Great Smoky Mountains National Park" - in a large and clean-looking font. Next to that on the right lower half of the page, I will start my article. Another idea I had for the left page was to put multiple pictures along the left edge of the page, write the title on the right half of the page, and start the article below. This might work better for my design as I have many pictures I am hoping to include in the article. My initial plan for the right page is to number 1,2,3, down the left side and largely write the trail's names next to the corresponding number. Below are templates that may help me develop the structure for the left page of my double page spread.
