Table of Contents Layouts and Possible Article Topics
Table of Contents Layouts:
I liked this layout because it's organized, simple, and easy to read. The big picture in the background provides an image of what can be seen in the magazine. Therefore, the background image can intrigue the reader to read through the magazine to learn more about where this picture was taken. For my magazine, I would make the background a picture of a winter mountain scenery taken from a destination within my magazine articles. This layout matches my front page concept as it features a main picture and then displays articles and descriptions more indistinctively on the page. If I choose to use this layout, I would consider lowering the rectangle and placing the title "Table of contents" larger along the top of the page, so that more of the image is visible.
I like that this layout has multiple featured images, but still keeps it simple and uncluttered. This one will also match my cover page concept because the pictures would be depicting the main articles as featured on that page. If I choose to use this layout, I would change the background color of the table of contents to match the color scheme of the pictures I choose to use. In addition, I would write a longer description for the articles. This way, too much empty space would be avoided and the reader would be interested in further reading the articles in the magazine. Finally, I could also separate the collage of pictures into 2 pictures at the top of the page and 2 at the bottom, so the table of contents is clearly noticeable in the middle of the page.
I liked this layout's concept and idea. However, the use of bold and regular text and multiple differently sized text lines and images makes this example very busy. If I were to use this template, I would maintain a better control over the size and font of the text to make it more readable. Secondly, I would only use 2 or 3 pictures to provide emphasis on those pictures. In my opinion, this layout has multiple images to look at which prevents the use of these pictures within the articles themselves, which if used in that place would give them a better meaning. This example, however, also fits into my front page concept, as I could incorporate my theme into this layout.
